The short answer
No single website checks every visa by passport number. Each country runs its own official portal, and only a few accept a passport number with your nationality, such as Qatar's Ministry of Interior and the UAE's ICP. India, Italy, Singapore and most others also need an application or reference number. A site promising a universal check is not official.
In Bangla
Key takeaways
- Every destination runs its own visa check, so start from the country that issued or is processing the visa.
- A passport number on its own is rarely enough: most portals pair it with nationality, a date or an application number.
- Type the passport number exactly as printed, pick the nationality on the passport and use the date format the form shows.
- No record found usually means a typing slip or a check made too early, not a cancelled visa.
- Official checks are free and never ask for an OTP, a payment or a photo of your passport.
An online visa check by passport number is possible for some countries, but not through one website for all of them. Every government runs its own portal, asks for its own mix of details and uses its own status words. This page lists the official address for each destination Bangladeshi travellers and workers search for most, what to type into it, what the result means and how to tell the real portal from a copy that wants your money.
Can you check any visa online with just a passport number?
Not any visa, and rarely with the passport number alone. A handful of portals find your record from the passport number plus your nationality, such as Qatar's Ministry of Interior visa inquiry and the UAE's ICP file validity service, which also asks for the passport's expiry date. Most others need a second key that only the applicant holds: an application number, a reference number from the receipt, a visa number or a login.
That second key is deliberate. A visa record holds your name, travel dates and sponsor, and governments do not want strangers reading it from a passport number they saw on a photocopy. So when a website claims it can show any country's visa from your passport number alone, treat that as the first sign it is not a government site.
Official visa check portals and what each one asks for
These are the official pages we opened on 29 October 2026. Bookmark the one you need rather than searching for it each time, because search results for visa checks are crowded with lookalikes.
| Destination | Official page | What it asks for | Passport number enough? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Qatar (work or visit visa) | MOI visa inquiry | Passport number and nationality, or visa number and nationality, plus a captcha | Yes, with nationality |
| Qatar (Hayya e-Visa) | Hayya: track your e-Visa | Entry reference number or passport number, and nationality | Yes, with nationality |
| India (regular visa) | Indian visa status enquiry | 12-character application ID and passport number | No |
| Saudi Arabia | KSA Visa: track application | Application or visa number, and passport number | No |
| UAE (Dubai and other emirates) | ICP file validity | Passport number, passport expiry date and nationality | Yes, with expiry date and nationality |
| Singapore (work pass) | MOM check a work pass | Date of birth with FIN or passport number | Yes, with date of birth |
| Singapore (entry visa) | ICA visa enquiry | Visa reference number and travel document number | No |
| Malaysia | Malaysia eVISA portal | Your eVISA account login | No |
| Italy | VFS Italy Bangladesh tracking | Reference number from the receipt and last name | No |
| Kuwait | Kuwait Visa platform | Your account login | No |
| Maldives (work permit) | Xpat work permit verification | Work permit number and name or passport number | No |
| Thailand | Thai e-Visa official website | Your e-Visa account login | No |
Each country has its own quirks, from Qatar's separate medical tracker to the Saudi platform that is moving to a new address, so the country guides go further: the Qatar visa check, the Indian visa check through IVAC, the Malaysia eVISA and ePass check and the Saudi MOFA visa check.
What to keep ready before you search
- Passport number exactly as printed on the data page, letters and digits in order, with no spaces. Bangladeshi passports start with letters, and an O typed as a zero is the commonest slip.
- The passport the visa was issued on. If you renewed your passport after applying, the record sits under the old number.
- Your nationality as the passport shows it. Pick Bangladesh from the list, not the country where you live.
- The application, reference or visa number from your receipt, acknowledgement email or the copy your employer sent.
- Your date of birth and passport expiry date, written in the format the form displays.
- A normal browser on a phone or computer. Captchas and date pickers often fail inside the browser built into Facebook or Messenger.
How to run a visa check safely
- 1
Type the address yourself
Open the official page from the table above or type the government domain by hand. Do not follow a link from a Facebook post, a WhatsApp forward or an advert.
- 2
Check the address bar
Real portals sit on government domains such as
moi.gov.qa,mofa.gov.sa,icp.gov.ae,gov.sg,imi.gov.my,gov.in,egov.mvorgo.th. Italy's checks run on VFS Global's own domain because VFS is the embassy's appointed centre. - 3
Choose the right search type
Many forms let you search by application number, visa number or passport number. Pick the one that matches the number you actually hold.
- 4
Enter the details carefully
Copy the passport number from the data page, select your nationality from the list and enter dates in the format shown, for example DD-MM-YYYY on Dubai's GDRFA page.
- 5
Solve the captcha and search
If the captcha keeps failing, refresh it once, then reload the page. Do not install an app that promises to solve it for you.
- 6
Save the result
Take a screenshot or save the page as a PDF with the date showing. You will want it if the status changes or someone disputes what you saw.
What do the status words mean?
The words differ by portal, but they fall into a few families. A status describes where the application sits in the queue, not how strong it is, so read it literally and act only when the portal asks you to.
| Words you may see | Where you see them | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| New, Submitted, InQueue | Kuwait Visa platform, Thai e-Visa | The application reached the system and waits for an officer | Wait; do not apply twice |
| Processing, Pending, Pending Approval | Kuwait, Thailand, many others | An officer or system is working on it | Wait for the time the portal states |
| Pending Payment, Waiting for Payment | Thai e-Visa, Kuwait Visa platform | The fee has not been recorded | Pay only inside the official portal |
| Request Document, Request Update, Fingerprint Required | Thailand, Kuwait, Nusuk | Something is missing: a paper, a correction or biometrics | Act before the deadline with genuine papers |
| Accepted, Approved, Result Available | Kuwait, Thailand, Qatar Visa Center | A decision or result exists | Download or print from the portal itself |
| Rejected, Cancelled, Visa Expired | Kuwait, Thailand and others | The application or visa is no longer usable | Read the reason; a new application is the only fix |
| No record found | Almost every portal | The details did not match a record, or it is not entered yet | Recheck spelling, nationality and dates; try later |
What can a visa agency see that you cannot?
Usually nothing extra. An agency checks the same official portals you can, with the same numbers, and some routes, such as Malaysia's eVISA or Kuwait's platform, put the status inside the account of whoever filed the application. That is why you should always get the application number and, where there is one, the login from whoever applied for you.
Well-run agencies keep that information in order for every client. Agencies that prepare files properly use software like Visolv to track every client's file through its stages and keep the client updated through the agency's own portal and WhatsApp. The software does not read government portals for them: a caseworker checks the official site and records what it says, so the client sees the same status the portal shows.
Why does the portal say no record found?
Most of the time it is the input, not the visa. Portals match your details exactly, so one wrong character returns nothing. Work through these before you worry.
- A typing slip: the letter O for zero, an extra space, or a lower-case letter where the form expects capitals.
- The wrong passport: the visa was issued on a passport you have since renewed.
- Nationality mismatch: you picked the country you work in rather than Bangladesh.
- Wrong date format: 05/11 read as 11 May instead of 5 November. Look at the placeholder in the date box.
- Too early: the employer or sponsor has not filed yet, or the record has not reached the public system.
- An old page: your browser shows a cached result. Reload, or open the page in a private window.
- Too late: some portals hide records once they expire. Singapore's MOM says it does not show passes cancelled or expired more than six months ago.
If the record still does not appear after a day or two, ask the person who filed the application for the application number and a copy of what they submitted. Then search again with that number.
How do you spot a fake visa check website?
A fake visa check site usually gives itself away in the address bar or in what it asks for. In our search on 29 October 2026, pages claiming to be official Qatar visa checkers sat on free hosting addresses ending in github.io, pages.dev and netlify.app. Government portals do not live there.
- It asks for money to show a status, or says a fee will speed up approval.
- It asks for an OTP from your phone, your bank details or a password.
- It asks you to upload a photo of your passport to verify a visa.
- It promises to check every country from one search box.
- It is a Facebook page, Telegram channel or WhatsApp number offering to check for you and send a screenshot back.
- It shows a green Approved badge while the official portal shows nothing.
When should you check, and how often?
Check once you know the application has been filed, then at sensible intervals: daily for e-visas that the portal says take a few working days, weekly for work visas that pass through an employer and several ministries. Refreshing every hour does not move a file. Where a portal sends email updates, such as the Thai and Kuwaiti e-visa systems, watch your inbox and spam folder instead.
If you run an agency and want to see how status tracking fits a well-kept file, our guide to visa agency software covers it. For your own trip, start with the official portal for your destination, keep your numbers safe and trust only what the government site shows.
Frequently asked questions
Can I check my visa status with only my passport number?
For a few countries, yes. Qatar's Ministry of Interior inquiry finds work and visit visas from a passport number and nationality, the UAE's ICP service uses the passport number, expiry date and nationality, and Singapore's MOM work pass check uses your date of birth and passport number. India, Italy, Saudi Arabia and most others also need an application or reference number.
Is there one website that checks visas for every country?
No government runs a universal visa check. Each country keeps its own records and its own portal, usually on a government domain such as moi.gov.qa, icp.gov.ae or gov.in. A website offering to check any country's visa from one search box is not official, and it may be collecting your passport details for misuse.
Why does my visa not show online when my agent says it is approved?
It may be too early, the details may not match, or the record may sit inside an account the agent controls. Ask for the application number, visa number or login and search the official portal yourself. A visa that only the agent can see, or that exists only as a PDF the agent sent, should be treated as unconfirmed.
Is it safe to type my passport number into a visa check site?
It is safe on the official government portal, which needs your passport number to find the record. It is not safe on lookalike sites, Facebook pages or chat groups, which can sell or misuse your details. Type the official address yourself, check the domain, and never add an OTP, bank details or a passport photo to a status check.
What should I do if the official visa check site is not loading?
Government portals go down for maintenance and some block heavy traffic. Wait an hour, try a different browser or switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi, and avoid browsers built into social media apps. Do not switch to an unofficial site that claims to show the same data, because no private site has access to government visa records.
Do I have to pay to check my visa status online?
No. Checking a visa status on an official portal is free in every country covered here. You pay visa fees when you apply, and some portals show a pending payment status, but that payment happens inside the official application system. Anyone charging you to look up a status, or to change one, is not acting for any government.
