The short answer
Check an Indian visa from Bangladesh on IVAC's official tracker at passtrack.net with the web file number from your application form or IVAC receipt, or on indianvisaonline.gov.in with your application ID and passport number. Neither works with a passport number alone, and as of October 2026 IVAC is offering only limited appointment slots.

Key takeaways
- IVAC Bangladesh links its Track Your Application button to passtrack.net, where the web file number is the only key you need besides the captcha.
- The web file number appears on the left side of your online application form and on the delivery receipt IVAC gives you.
- India's own status enquiry needs the 12-character application ID and your passport number.
- IVAC says the passport is handed over on or after the delivery date, and delivery on authorisation is not allowed.
- The High Commission of India says nobody from the mission sells appointment slots, and any extra payment demand is fraud.
An Indian visa check online from Bangladesh runs through two official trackers, and both need a number you received when you applied, not just your passport. IVAC Bangladesh, the Indian Visa Application Center run by State Bank of India, follows your file through its centres. India's visa portal shows the application's own status. This guide covers both, what to do with each result, and the touts who sell fake slots around them.
Where can you check an Indian visa from Bangladesh?
Use IVAC's tracker first. The Track Your Application button on ivacbd.com opens passtrack.net, IVAC's tracking site, where the regular visa tracker asks for your web file number and a captcha. A second page on the same site covers port endorsement and R.A.P./P.A.P. applications. For the application's status in India's own system, use the Indian visa status enquiry with your application ID and passport number.
The two answer different questions. Passtrack tells you where your file and passport are in the IVAC process, including when the passport is due back. The status enquiry on indianvisaonline.gov.in, run by India's Bureau of Immigration, reports the visa status itself; for e-Visa applicants of other nationalities it also shows payment status and lets them print the e-Visa.
Which number do you need?
For IVAC you need the web file number, sometimes called the registration number. IVAC says it appears on the left side of the online visa application form you printed, and on the delivery receipt issued at the centre. Bangladeshi web file numbers usually begin with BGD. For indianvisaonline.gov.in you need the 12-character application ID shown on the receipt from the mission or centre where you submitted, together with the passport number you applied with.
- Lost the form? The delivery receipt from IVAC carries the same web file number.
- Applied through an agent? Ask for a copy of the printed application form and the IVAC receipt. They belong to you.
- Renewed your passport since applying? Use the passport number on the application, not the new one.
How to track an IVAC application step by step
- 1
Start from the IVAC website
Open
ivacbd.comby typing it, then press Track Your Application. It takes you to passtrack.net, the tracker IVAC links to. - 2
Pick the right tracker
Choose Regular Visa Application for an ordinary visa, or Port Endorsement, R.A.P./P.A.P. if that is what you applied for.
- 3
Enter the web file number
Type it exactly as printed on the form or receipt, in capitals, with no spaces.
- 4
Type the code
Copy the characters from the image under Please type below code. If you cannot read them, press Not readable? Change text.
- 5
Read the search result
Press Submit. The Search Result section shows the current stage of your file and, once processing is done, the delivery date for your passport.
- 6
Cross-check if you have the application ID
On indianvisaonline.gov.in, enter the 12-character application ID, your passport number and the captcha on the Visa Status Enquiry page.
What does each tracker result mean?
Passtrack describes where the file is rather than giving a verdict in one word, and the exact wording can change, so read the sentence on screen in full. These are the situations you will meet and what each one asks of you.
| What the tracker shows | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Your file is with IVAC or under process | The application and passport were received and are moving through IVAC and the High Commission | Wait; do not book a second appointment |
| A delivery date for your passport | Processing is finished and IVAC will hand the passport back | Go on or after that date with your receipt; IVAC says delivery on authorisation is not allowed |
| The enquiry on indianvisaonline.gov.in shows the visa as granted | A visa has been issued on your application | Collect the passport and check the visa page carefully |
| The enquiry shows the visa as refused or not granted | The mission did not issue a visa | Collect the passport; a new application is the only route |
| An empty Search Result | No record matched the number you typed, or it has not been updated yet | Recheck the web file number and try again the next working day |
| Payment status (e-Visa nationalities only) | Shows whether an e-Visa fee was received | Not relevant to regular visas from Bangladesh |
What IVAC is processing right now
Before you worry about a slow status, check what IVAC is accepting. As of 29 October 2026, its homepage advisory says the five centres in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna offer limited appointment slots for Bangladeshi nationals needing urgent medical and other emergency visas, and for students and workers who already hold visa appointments at foreign embassies in India. IVAC says these services stay limited until it resumes normal operations.
IVAC also posts closures for public holidays on its notice board, such as the Durga Puja closure on 20 and 21 October 2026. A file usually does not move on those days, so count working days when you judge how long it has been.
Why the IVAC tracker shows nothing
- A wrong web file number: a missing letter, an O typed for a zero or a space inside the number.
- The wrong tracker: a port endorsement typed into the regular visa page, or the other way round.
- Too soon: an application you filled online but have not yet submitted at IVAC has nothing to track.
- The wrong ID on indianvisaonline.gov.in: that page wants the 12-character application ID and the passport number together.
- A cached page: reload, or open the tracker in a private window, after the captcha fails.
- A lookalike site: if the page has adverts, asks for your phone number or wants a payment, you are not on IVAC's tracker.
Agencies that handle Indian medical and student files for many clients keep each web file number, appointment date and delivery date together. Agencies that prepare files properly use software like Visolv to track every client's file by stage and send status updates through the agency's own client portal and WhatsApp. It does not read passtrack or indianvisaonline.gov.in by itself; a caseworker checks the official tracker and records the result for the client to see.
Touts, fake slots and lookalike trackers
Indian visa slots in Bangladesh attract more fraud than almost any other route. IVAC's own advisory warns that certain agents misrepresent themselves as officials of the Indian High Commission and collect money for so-called guaranteed appointment slots. It states that no one from the High Commission in Dhaka or the Assistant High Commissions in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna or Sylhet contacts applicants by personal phone call, social media or third parties to offer slots for payment.
- India charges Bangladeshi citizens no visa fee; IVAC's published processing fee is the only payment, and IVAC says any other demand for slots or faster delivery is fraudulent.
- IVAC asks you to report suspicious offers on 01325089975.
- A Facebook page that checks your visa and sends back a screenshot is not a tracker. Use passtrack.net from the IVAC site.
- Never give an OTP, a bKash PIN or a photo of your passport to anyone offering a status check.
Collecting your passport from IVAC
When the tracker shows a delivery date, go to the same IVAC centre on or after that date with your receipt. IVAC's note on the tracker says passports are delivered on or after the delivery date and that delivery on authorisation is not allowed, so plan to collect in person. Check the visa page before you leave the counter: your name, passport number, visa type and dates.
Medical visa holders should read the visa carefully too. IVAC advises that you visit only the hospital the visa was issued for; changing hospital needs permission from India's Foreigners Regional Registration Office, and doing so without it breaks the visa conditions.
For other destinations, our visa check by passport number guide lists every official portal, and the Malaysia visa check and Thailand visa check guides cover two popular trips from Bangladesh. If you run an agency, see how a tracked file works in our visa agency software guide. Keep your web file number safe, track only on passtrack.net and indianvisaonline.gov.in, and ignore anyone selling slots.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check my Indian visa status from Bangladesh?
Open ivacbd.com and press Track Your Application, which takes you to passtrack.net. Choose Regular Visa Application, enter your web file number and the captcha, then press Submit. You can also use the Visa Status Enquiry on indianvisaonline.gov.in with your 12-character application ID and passport number. Both checks are free.
Where do I find my IVAC web file number?
IVAC says the web file number, also called the registration number, appears on the left side of the online visa application form you filled and printed. It is also printed on the delivery receipt IVAC gives you when you submit. Bangladeshi web file numbers usually start with BGD. Keep the receipt until your passport is back in your hands.
Can I check my Indian visa with only my passport number?
No. IVAC's tracker searches by web file number, and India's status enquiry needs the application ID together with the passport number. A site that claims to show your Indian visa from a passport number alone is not official. If you have lost both numbers, contact IVAC through the phone numbers and email listed on ivacbd.com.
Why does the IVAC tracker show an empty search result?
Usually the web file number was mistyped, you chose the wrong tracker, or the application has not been submitted at IVAC yet. Check the number against your form or receipt, use capitals with no spaces, and pick Regular Visa Application for an ordinary visa. If it still shows nothing a working day later, contact IVAC with your receipt.
Can someone else collect my passport from IVAC?
IVAC's tracker states that delivery on authorisation is not allowed, so plan to collect the passport yourself. Go to the same centre on or after the delivery date the tracker shows, carry your receipt and an ID, and check the visa page before leaving. If you cannot attend, contact IVAC directly to ask what it will accept.
Do I need to pay extra for an IVAC appointment slot?
No. The Government of India charges Bangladeshi citizens no visa fee, and IVAC says that apart from its own processing fee, no additional payment is needed to get or speed up a slot. The High Commission warns that people selling guaranteed slots are frauds. Report such offers to IVAC on 01325089975.
Is IVAC accepting Indian tourist visa applications now?
As of 29 October 2026, IVAC's advisory says its five centres offer limited appointment slots for urgent medical and other emergency visas, and for students and workers who already have visa appointments at foreign embassies in India. It says services stay limited until IVAC resumes normal operations. Check the advisory on ivacbd.com before you plan a trip.
