The short answer
To check a UAE visa by passport number, use ICP's File Validity service: choose Passport Information and Visa, then enter your passport number, passport expiry date and nationality. For a Dubai application in progress, GDRFA Dubai's Status Tracking page searches by application number, transaction number and payment date, or by file number with your name and date of birth.

Key takeaways
- ICP's File Validity service checks UAE visas and residencies from passport details, without a login.
- GDRFA Dubai's Status Tracking follows Dubai applications by application number or by file number.
- The two sites write dates differently: ICP's date picker uses dd/MM/yyyy, GDRFA asks for DD-MM-YYYY.
- No record found on ICP usually means a mismatch in passport number, expiry date or nationality, not a cancelled visa.
- An ICP result can show remaining days and overstay days, which matters before you plan to stay or leave.
A Dubai visa check online is done on one of two government sites. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) lets anyone verify a UAE visa or residency file from passport details, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) tracks applications filed in Dubai. Here is which to use, what to type, how to read the result and how to avoid the visa sellers who crowd UAE job groups.
Which UAE portal checks your visa?
- You hold a UAE visa number or e-visa copy and want to confirm it is real and valid: use ICP's File Validity service. It searches by passport details and needs no account.
- Your sponsor filed a Dubai visa and gave you an application number: use GDRFA Dubai's Status Tracking to see where the application stands.
- You already live in the UAE: the same ICP service also checks residency files, using the residency option instead of visa.
ICP handles visas and residency for the federal system, including the emirates other than Dubai, while GDRFA Dubai runs Dubai's own residency and visa services. If you are unsure which emirate issued your visa, start with ICP's check by passport.
How do you check a UAE visa with your passport number?
Open ICP's File Validity page, select Passport Information under Search By and Visa under Select the Type, then enter your passport number, the passport's expiry date and your nationality. Complete the Verify check and press Search. If a visa file exists for that passport, its details appear; if not, the page shows No record found.

Open ICP smart services
Go to
smartservices.icp.gov.aeand open File Validity, or use the direct link above. Switch to English with the language button if needed. - 2

Type the passport number exactly as printed, then pick the passport expiry date in the date box, which uses dd/MM/yyyy, and select BANGLADESH as nationality.
- 5
Verify and search
Complete the Verify check under the form, which is a security challenge, then press Search.
- 6
Save the result
Take a screenshot or use Print Visa if the option appears, and check the name and passport number against your passport.
What does the ICP result show?
ICP's result page is built around the file. Its fields, taken from the File Validity page on 29 October 2026, tell you more than yes or no, and two of them matter for anyone already in the country.
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No record found | No visa or residency file matched the passport number, expiry date and nationality | Recheck all three, then try the File No. search if you have the file number |
| File Status | Whether the file is active, expired or cancelled | Only an active visa can be used to enter; ask the sponsor about anything else |
| Expire Date | The last day the visa or file is valid | Enter, or leave, before this date |
| Whether the visa has been used | Shows if the entry permit was already used to enter | A used visa cannot be used again for a new entry |
| Remaining days to stay | How long you may still stay on this permit | Plan your exit or an extension before it runs out |
| Violated days and fines | Days of overstay and any fine on the file | Settle fines through official channels before you travel |
| Print Visa | The visa can be printed from ICP | Print it and carry it with your passport |
Checking a Dubai application on GDRFA
GDRFA Dubai's Status Tracking page asks you to enter all the search parameters for the search type you choose. It offers five: Application, File, Establishment, Application for reconsideration and Over the Counter Service Applications. Most applicants need the first two.
- Application: the application number, the transaction number and the payment date in DD-MM-YYYY. Your sponsor or typing centre has these on the receipt.
- File: your first name in English, the file number, your nationality and your date of birth in DD-MM-YYYY. The file number is on the visa itself.
- Application for reconsideration: for a request to review a decision, searched with the application or file number, passport number, nationality and year of birth.
Agencies that send workers and visitors to the UAE track many sponsors' application numbers, file numbers and expiry dates at once. Agencies that prepare files properly use software like Visolv to track every client's file and send status updates through the agency's own client portal and WhatsApp. It does not query ICP or GDRFA by itself: a caseworker checks the official result and records it, so the client sees what the government site shows.
Errors that block the UAE visa search
- Date format: ICP's date box uses dd/MM/yyyy and GDRFA asks for DD-MM-YYYY. A month and day swapped returns nothing.
- Passport expiry, not issue date: ICP wants the date the passport expires.
- A renewed passport: the visa was issued on the passport number your sponsor submitted. Search with that one, or ask the sponsor to update it.
- First name spelling on GDRFA: type it in English exactly as the sponsor entered it.
- The Verify check did not finish: wait for it to complete before pressing Search, and avoid in-app browsers.
- Too early: an application still being typed or paid for has no visa file yet.
Dubai visa scams and fake visa copies
UAE job and visit visas are sold heavily on Facebook groups and WhatsApp in Bangladesh, often as a PDF that looks like an e-visa. The ICP check is the fastest way to test one: if the passport details return no record, the PDF is not a UAE visa.
- ICP and GDRFA checks are free. Nobody needs to charge you to look up a status.
- No official check asks for an OTP, your bank PIN or a photo of your passport sent over chat.
- A seller who says the visa is real but not yet in the system is describing a visa that does not exist.
- Ask for the sponsor's details and confirm the job offer through official channels before paying anyone.
Watch the dates once you are in the UAE
If you are already in the country, run the ICP check again before your permit ends. The remaining days and violated days fields show whether you are within your permitted stay. ICP lists 600522222 for calls inside the UAE and +971600522222 from abroad if the result does not match what your sponsor told you.
For other Gulf routes, see the Qatar visa check and the Saudi visa check, and the visa check by passport number hub has every country's official portal in one table. Agency owners can read how tracked files work in our visa agency software guide. For your own UAE visa, the ICP and GDRFA pages are the only proof that counts.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check my UAE visa with my passport number?
Open ICP's File Validity service on smartservices.icp.gov.ae, choose Passport Information and Visa, then enter your passport number, passport expiry date and nationality. Complete the Verify check and press Search. If a visa file exists for that passport, the result shows its status and expiry date; otherwise the page says No record found.
How do I check a Dubai visa application status online?
Use GDRFA Dubai's Status Tracking page. Choose Application and enter the application number, transaction number and payment date in DD-MM-YYYY, or choose File and enter your first name in English, file number, nationality and date of birth. Your sponsor or the typing centre that filed the application has the application and transaction numbers.
Why does ICP say No record found for my visa?
The passport number, expiry date or nationality did not match a visa file. Check for an O typed as a zero, confirm you entered the expiry date rather than the issue date, and select Bangladesh. If your sponsor used an older passport, search with that number. If it still finds nothing, ask the sponsor for the file number and visa copy.
Which date format do the UAE visa check sites use?
ICP's File Validity date box uses dd/MM/yyyy, so 5 November 2027 is 05/11/2027. GDRFA Dubai's Status Tracking fields ask for DD-MM-YYYY, so the same date is 05-11-2027. Swapping the day and month is one of the commonest reasons an otherwise correct search returns nothing.
Does the ICP visa check show overstay fines?
ICP's File Validity result includes fields for remaining days to stay, violated days and fines on the file, alongside the file status and expiry date. If it shows violated days or a fine, settle it through official UAE channels before you travel, and confirm the result with your sponsor or ICP's call centre if it surprises you.
Is a UAE visa copy on WhatsApp enough proof?
No. A PDF or picture can be edited, and fake UAE visas circulate widely. Check the passport details on ICP's File Validity service, or the application on GDRFA Dubai's Status Tracking. If neither shows the visa, do not travel on it and do not pay the seller any more money.
