The short answer
Singapore runs two checks. Workers use the Ministry of Manpower's Check a Work Pass page with their date of birth and passport number or FIN, which shows Pending, Valid or Invalid. Visitors check an entry visa on ICA's e-Service with the visa reference number and travel document number; ICA says most visas are processed within 3 working days.
In Bangla
Key takeaways
- Bangladeshi workers check their Work Permit on MOM's portal, which needs no login and is available in Bengali.
- MOM shows three status words, Pending, Valid and Invalid, each with a sentence explaining it.
- The salary check shows what your employer declared; MOM says it can only help with disputes based on that figure.
- Entry visas are filed by a local contact or authorised visa agent through ICA, and checked with the visa reference number and passport number.
- MOM hides applications and passes cancelled or expired more than six months ago, so an old record returning nothing is normal.
A Singapore visa check means one of two different things, and searching the wrong site is why many people find nothing. If you are going to work, your status is a work pass held by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). If you are visiting, it is an entry visa held by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). This guide covers both, with the exact fields, MOM's own status words and the checks a worker should make before leaving Bangladesh.
Which Singapore check do you need?
- Going to work on a Work Permit, S Pass or Employment Pass: MOM's Check a Work Pass portal. MOM describes it as checking the status of a work pass application or the validity of a work pass, with no login required.
- Joining family on a Dependant's Pass or Long-Term Visit Pass from MOM: the same MOM portal, which covers all work passes and long-term passes MOM issues.
- Visiting for tourism or business: ICA's entry visa e-Service, where the Enquire Application Status option checks a visa filed by your local contact or authorised visa agent.
How to check a work pass on MOM, step by step
- 1
Open the MOM portal
Type
service2.mom.gov.sg/workpass/enquiry. Choose your language; Bengali is one of the five on offer, with English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil. - 2
Choose Pass status
The landing page offers Pass status and Salary. Pick Pass status and press Start.
- 3
Enter your date of birth
Type it in the format the portal asks for, dd mmm yyyy, for example 05 Nov 1995.
- 4
Enter your FIN or passport number
New applicants without an In-Principle Approval (IPA) use the passport number. If you have the IPA letter, the FIN on it is more precise.
- 5
Tick the CAPTCHA and submit
MOM uses it to stop automated programs from harvesting pass holders' information.
- 6
Save the result
MOM lets you save the result as a PDF; the date and time of the enquiry are stamped on it.
What do Pending, Valid and Invalid mean on MOM?
Pending means MOM is still processing the application, Valid means the application is approved or the pass is in force, and Invalid means the IPA or pass has expired or been cancelled, or the application was not approved. The portal adds a sentence under each status, quoted below from the portal's text on 29 October 2026.
| Status | MOM's explanation | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Pending | Your application is being processed. | Wait, and ask your employer or agent if it stays pending for weeks |
| Valid (IPA) | Your application has been approved. Check your In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter for the next steps. | Get the IPA letter from your employer or agent and check every detail |
| Valid (pass) | The pass is in force; salary details are in the SGWorkPass app with a Singpass login | Keep the digital work pass on your phone |
| Invalid (IPA expired) | Your IPA to work in Singapore has expired. Please talk to your employer or agent. | Do not travel on it; ask whether a new application will be made |
| Invalid (IPA cancelled) | Your IPA to work in Singapore has been cancelled. Please talk to your employer or agent. | Do not travel; ask why it was cancelled |
| Invalid (not approved) | Your application has not been approved. Please talk to your employer or agent. | Ask the employer for the next step before paying anyone |
| Invalid (pass expired or cancelled) | Your pass has expired, or your pass has been cancelled. | You can no longer work on this pass |
| No record found | No record found. Records older than 6 months are not shown. | Recheck the details, or ask your employer whether it has applied |
MOM also notes that because the portal needs no login, it can only show limited information for privacy and security reasons. The full detail sits in your IPA letter and, once you hold the pass, in the SGWorkPass app.
Check your salary before you fly
Work Permit holders with an IPA can choose Salary on the landing page and enter the Work Permit application date printed on the IPA letter. MOM says this is the salary your employer declared you will be paid in Singapore, and asks you to raise it with your employer or agent if it is not what you were promised. It adds that if there is a pay dispute in Singapore it can only help based on the salary shown, and it cannot help with a dispute with the agent in your home country.
MOM's FAQ is blunt about mismatches: if the employment details on the portal differ from your offer, contact your employer or agent before coming to Singapore, and you may reject the offer if you do not agree. If the occupation, salary or employer's name is wrong, the employer or agent can correct it in MOM's systems.
Checking an entry visa with ICA
Singapore entry visas are applied for through ICA's e-Service by a local contact in Singapore, an authorised visa agent or a strategic partner, using Form 14A signed by the applicant. To check one, open the e-Service, choose Enquire Application Status and enter the individual or family visa reference number and the applicant's travel document number, which is your passport number. ICA says a visa application is processed within 3 working days, excluding the day of submission, though some take longer.
If an agency in Dhaka applied for you through an authorised visa agent, ask it for the visa reference number. Without it, ICA's enquiry cannot find the application.
Agencies that place workers or send visitors to Singapore juggle IPA letters, FINs and visa reference numbers across many clients. Agencies that prepare files properly use software like Visolv to track every client's file and send status updates through the agency's own client portal and WhatsApp. It does not query MOM or ICA by itself: a caseworker checks the official portal and records the result, so the client sees what MOM or ICA shows.
Error messages and how to fix them
- Multiple results are found. Use FIN instead. Your passport number is linked to more than one FIN. Ask your employer or agent for the FIN on your IPA letter and search with that.
- No record found. Records older than 6 months are not shown. Either the details do not match, the employer has not applied, or the record is over six months old.
- You must enter a valid date (dd mmm yyyy). Type the date as 05 Nov 1995, not 05/11/1995.
- The salary option refuses your date: it needs the Work Permit application date from the IPA letter, not your date of birth.
- ICA's enquiry finds nothing: check that you are using the visa reference number, not an agency's own booking number.
Scams around Singapore work permits
Singapore jobs are sold hard in Bangladesh, often with promises the IPA does not match. MOM's portal carries its own warning: MOM officers will never ask you to transfer money or disclose bank log-in details over a phone call or email, and anyone unsure can call the ScamShield helpline on 1799.
- The MOM and ICA checks are free. Pay nobody to look up your pass.
- A Work Permit shown only as a picture is not proof. Check it on MOM's portal with your own date of birth and passport number.
- If the salary on MOM is lower than promised, raise it before you travel, as MOM advises, not after.
- Nobody needs your OTP or Singpass details to check a status for you.
For other routes, the visa check by passport number hub lists every official portal, and our Malaysia visa check covers the nearest neighbour's eVISA and ePass checks. Agency owners can see how tracked files work in our visa agency software guide. Before you board for Singapore, check MOM or ICA yourself, and make sure the salary and employer on screen are the ones you agreed to.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check my Singapore work permit status?
Go to MOM's Check a Work Pass portal at service2.mom.gov.sg/workpass/enquiry, choose your language and Pass status, then enter your date of birth and your FIN or passport number and tick the CAPTCHA. The result shows Pending, Valid or Invalid with a sentence explaining it. No login is needed, and you can save the result as a PDF.
Can I check a Singapore work pass with my passport number?
Yes. MOM's portal accepts your passport number together with your date of birth, which is how new applicants without an IPA or FIN check their status. If the portal says multiple results are found, your passport is linked to more than one FIN, so ask your employer or agent for the FIN on your IPA letter and search with that.
What does Invalid mean on the MOM work pass check?
Invalid covers several outcomes, and MOM explains which one under the status: the In-Principle Approval has expired or been cancelled, the application has not been approved, or the pass has expired or been cancelled. In each case you cannot travel or work on it. MOM asks you to talk to your employer or agent about the next step.
How do I check a Singapore tourist visa status?
Open ICA's entry visa e-Service, choose Enquire Application Status, and enter the individual or family visa reference number with your travel document number, which is your passport number. The visa is filed by a local contact or an authorised visa agent, so ask whoever applied for the reference number if you do not have it.
How long does a Singapore visa take to process?
ICA says a visa application is processed within 3 working days, excluding the day of submission, though some applications take longer. Work pass timelines are different and depend on MOM and your employer; the MOM portal shows Pending while an application is being processed. Check the official portals rather than relying on an agent's estimate.
What if the salary on MOM is different from what my agent promised?
Raise it with your employer or agent before you travel. MOM says the salary shown is what your employer declared, that you may reject the offer if you do not agree with the details, and that in a pay dispute in Singapore it can only help based on the salary shown. It cannot help with disputes with an agent in Bangladesh.
