Key takeaways
- A six-month UK visitor visa costs £135 in the Home Office fee table that took effect on 8 October 2026.
- Long-term visitor visas of 2, 5 and 10 years cost more but still allow only six months per visit.
- Student and partner visas add the immigration health surcharge, which often costs more than the visa itself.
- VFS services such as the document check are optional and paid to VFS, not to the UK government.
- The visa fee is not refunded after a refusal or when a shorter visa is issued, so the file matters more than the speed.
The UK visa fee for Bangladeshi applicants is set in pounds by the Home Office and is the same for every nationality. For a normal visit it is £135. What varies is everything around it: whether you choose a long-term visa, whether you pay for a faster decision, which VFS extras you accept and what an agency charges to prepare the file.
This page sets out each fee as published in the Home Office fee table on 8 October 2026, explains which costs are compulsory and which are optional, and shows where the money goes. Fees can change during the year, so check the official page before paying.

How do you pay the UK visa fee from Bangladesh?
You pay online at the end of the GOV.UK form, by debit or credit card, before the appointment is booked. The fee is set in pounds, so the amount taken from your account depends on your bank's conversion rate and its charges for international online payments. Ask your bank in advance whether your card is enabled for this and what limit applies.
Keep the payment confirmation and the application reference that starts with GWF. VFS services are paid separately to VFS, as its booking pages explain, and an agency's service fee is paid to the agency. If anyone asks you to send the Home Office fee to a personal bKash or bank account, stop and check: the government fee is only ever paid through the official form.
What other costs come with a UK visa application?
Beyond the visa fee, a Bangladeshi visitor usually meets three or four smaller costs. None of them is paid to the Home Office, and most are optional.
- VFS optional services. VFS Global lists a document check at ৳2,000 on its Bangladesh premium services page. Other extras, such as courier or a premium waiting area, are priced on that page; check it before you book, because the list changes.
- Certified translations. Any paper not in English or Welsh, such as a Bangla trade licence, birth certificate or Nikah Nama, needs a full translation the Home Office can verify. Translators charge per page.
- Bank papers. Banks in Bangladesh usually charge for a stamped statement and for a solvency certificate. Ask your branch for its current rate.
- An agency's service fee, if you use one. In Dhaka this is typically ৳4,500 to ৳8,000 for a Western visitor file and can reach ৳20,000, based on fees published by ShareTrip and GoFly BD.
A TB test is not part of a visitor's budget unless the stay is longer than six months. The Home Office list of approved clinics in Bangladesh, last updated in March 2025, shows fees of 70 US dollars at the IOM clinics and ৳5,500 at the Green Crescent clinics for applicants aged 11 and over. Our TB test guide for Bangladesh has the clinic list and booking details.
Is priority or super priority worth paying for?
Pay for a faster decision only when you have a real deadline, such as a conference or a family event you cannot move. Priority costs £500 on top of the visa fee and usually brings a decision within five working days. Super priority costs £1,000 and usually brings one by the end of the next working day, according to the GOV.UK faster decision page.
Three points are easy to miss. A faster service is not offered for every visa in every country, so check what your form and the VFS booking page show. It buys speed, not a better chance: the officer applies the same rules. And every family member applying with you pays the extra fee separately. If your trip can wait three weeks, the standard service costs nothing more. Our page on UK visa decision times explains how the clock is counted.
Should an agency's fee be part of your budget?
Only if the agency earns it. A service fee pays for someone to read your papers, catch the mismatch between your tax return and the form, draft a cover letter that says only what your papers show and build the upload in the VFS order. It does not pay for a decision, and no fee can buy one.
When you compare agencies, ask what checks they run before submitting. An agency that uses Visolv has each paper in your file read and cross-checked, with any finding pointing at the page it came from, and its caseworker approves every draft before you see it. You still pay the visa fee to the UK government yourself, through the official form. The full process is in our guide to the UK visa from Bangladesh.
Is the UK visa fee refunded if you are refused?
No. The Home Office keeps the visa fee when an application is refused, and also when it issues a shorter visa than the one you paid for, such as a six-month visa on a ten-year application. You can cancel an application and get the fee back only if it has not started being processed. The health surcharge is treated differently: GOV.UK says it is refunded in full when a visa application is refused.
That is why a long-term visa is not a saving for a first-time traveller. If an officer is not ready to give you ten years, you may get six months or a refusal, and the difference between £1,128 and £135 is gone. A long-term application makes most sense after one or two UK visits with a clean record of leaving on time.
What do student and spouse visas really cost?
For any visa longer than six months, the immigration health surcharge is the larger bill. It gives you access to the NHS and is paid when you apply, on top of the visa fee. According to the GOV.UK health surcharge page, students pay £776 for each year of the visa and most other applicants, including partners, pay £1,035 a year.
So a first partner visa of two years and nine months costs £2,064 plus a surcharge of £3,105 per adult, and a student on a one-year master's course pays £558 plus the surcharge for the full length of the visa, which runs a little longer than the course. Students must also show living money in the bank, which our guide to UK student visa requirements for Bangladeshi students covers in detail.
When do UK visa fees change?
The Home Office publishes a new fee table several times a year, the main increases have usually come in April, and every version sits on the visa fees collection page. The fee you pay is the one in force on the day you submit and pay for the online form, not the day of your appointment.
If you are planning a trip for next spring, check the table again before you pay. The surcharge and the faster-decision fees can change at different times from the visa fees, and VFS can change its own prices independently.
Budget for the £135 visitor fee, your bank's charges for statements, any translations and only the VFS extras you actually need. Then spend your effort on the file, because the fee is the same whether you are approved or refused. If you want a second pair of eyes before paying, go through a visa agency that uses Visolv.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the UK tourist visa fee from Bangladesh?
A UK tourist visa is a Standard Visitor visa, and the fee is £135 for a stay of up to six months. It is paid online to the UK government when you submit the application form. Long-term visitor visas cost £506 for two years, £903 for five years and £1,128 for ten years, with each visit still limited to six months.
Can I pay the UK visa fee in taka?
The UK visa fee is set in pounds and paid online by card through the official GOV.UK form. Your bank converts the amount and may add charges for an international online payment, so the taka figure on your statement depends on your bank. Check with your bank before applying that your card can make the payment and what limit applies.
Is the VFS fee included in the UK visa fee?
No. The visa fee goes to the UK Home Office. VFS Global, which runs the visa application centres in Bangladesh, charges separately for optional services such as a document check, courier or a premium waiting area. You choose these when you book, and you can decline them. Check the current list of optional services and their prices on the VFS Bangladesh UK pages before booking.
Do children pay the same UK visit visa fee?
Yes. Every applicant, including a child, makes a separate application and pays the visitor visa fee, which is £135 for a stay of up to six months. Each family member also attends the appointment. If you pay for a faster decision, every family member applying with you pays the extra fee too, and everyone receives their decision at the same time.
Do I get my UK visa fee back if my visa is refused?
No. The Home Office does not refund the visa fee after a refusal, or when it grants a shorter visa than the one applied for. You can cancel and get a refund only if processing has not started. The immigration health surcharge, which applies to visas longer than six months, is refunded in full if the application is refused.
Is a 10-year UK visit visa better value than a 6-month one?
Only for frequent travellers with a good UK record. The ten-year visa costs £1,128 and still allows only six months per visit. If the officer decides you should have a shorter visa or refuses you, the fee is not refunded. First-time visitors usually apply for six months, then consider a long-term visa after visits that ended on time.
